Hi there.
I have a lowband MT1000 that I would like to use on 6 meters. Unfortuantely, the VCO rolls off quickly above 52 MHz. I guess I need to pad capacitance in the oscillator LC or tweek the inductor. I have never worked on an MT1000 but have plenty of other radio experience. Is the VCO in these radios (easily ?) extractable ? Is it a sealed unit or built onto the main pcb ? Just wondering if this is indeed doable.
I'm willing and able to try it if someone who has worked on these HTs would be so kind as to provide me with a bit of guidance.
If I succeed, I will post the mods here.

Thanks, Hugh VA3TO

Hi.

Unfortunately the VCO is not located on the mainboard. It is an sealed (soldered)module. The risk of killing your radio during opening/desoldering the module is very high!!

Well, I just happen to have a great amount of experience working on sealed VCO's used in airborne radio equipment.
I'm willing to give it a try !
I still need more info starting with schematic of the VCO...
Anyone ?
