HT1000 Internal Fuse???

Hello,
I have a HT1000 that worked fine for about four hours and now it will not power up at all. I have tried different batteries that I know work and still no power. I need to know where the internal fuse is in the radio so I can make it operational again????? Please Help.....

Hi:

1. Doubtfull the fuse is really bad, but if you
want to know where it is located, its very
close to the 3 Power Pogo pins on the PC
board.

Does require you to take the radio apart.

2. Sometimes, the Interface from the Mother
PC board to the logic board seperates, and
all one has to do, is push the Overlay connector
doen beteen the boards.

3. Also, adding a smalll rubber pressure pad
to keep them in place would be a good idea.

If you are going to change the fuse, I would suggest that you be very certain that it is bad, unless you either:

A. Are very skilled with a soldering iron, OR

B. Have the "proper" SMD type soldering set up.

I have changed dozens of these fuses, and they can be very difficult to solder back in correctly, without the "right" equipment. I'm not saying not to try it. However, if your soldering experience is limited to thru hole components and/or plumbing, then be very careful.

And whatever you do, DON'T just solder a bridge across the gap!! I've seen many people do this when they weren't able to locate the correct fuse!

I remember my days with the Fire Dept in the early 80's when someone replaced a fuse in a vehicle (okay, so it's not about a radio but the outcome is the same). So they just wrapped some tin-foil around the blown bus fuse and snapped it back in. A little while later we needed a new pumper because it was totally involved in minutes because of the little fuse incident.

Okay, your radio won't catch on fire but you DON'T want to just bridge that fuse!

Does anyone know the value of that fuse? I have one that's definitely blown and would like to try to change it.

Old topic but is still applies today. Took my radio apart and made sure all the connections were good, and now it works great again! This us what the batlabs board is all about!
