Ford F150 - Siren & Radio Mount - *UPDATED*

Post by motorolamonster911 »

I'm getting ready to do an install on a 1998 Ford F-150. Its an automatic so I want to use the center hump for mounting.

The truck will get a Galls GS100 Streethunder?? I think..It looks like this <img src="http://www.galls.com/jpegs/7310.jpg">

Also it will get a TK-760 Kenwood Mobile.
<img src="http://www.kenwood.net/ProductImages/TK-760_thumb.jpg">
No lighting switches/controls b/c he has two dashlights he likes to just plug in.

Speaker is mounted, now I'm trying to figure out a mounting scheme for the radio and siren box. He wants something small like a "Wedge" mount and not a full console. So any ideas or suggestions on mounting these two units to the wedge?

Also is there any wiring harnesses or depth concerns I should worry about on the hump?

Any info will help!

Thanks!

All I have to do is drop it down in the truck and mount it.

Should work out fine and not overly complex. I dispise those Galls sirens though. They are inexpensive but total garbage. Don't be surprised if it shuts off when you key that radio.

Dont even get me started on Galls stuff..lol

When I took this siren apart to mount the radio ontop of the outer housing I had to remove the front switch panel. On the right switch the ground wire looked to have came loose and the blade connector was rattling around in the case. So, how did they fix it, solder it on!

I took a pick, but it sucks...

Gall's = Made in China :o as per the tag on them.

Gall's = non SAE and non DOT approved sirens.

Galls' speakers = change them every 6 months

Gall's consoles = fall apart in 6 months

Gall's = ripoff.

If Gall's built the following, would you buy it?
Firearm
Vest
Radio

Thought so!

I know the quality of Galls equipment isn't up to par, but the new deluxe console has a nice look and layout, overall. Too bad it's sliver and isn't as great, has some good ideas.

galls went really downhill after ARAMARK bought them. Aramark used to be a medical/industrial uniform outfit who suddenly decided to expand and diversfy in the last couple years.

They are now in the food service business, cleaning/industrial and now of all things public safety equipment supply.

UPDATE:

I just got this thing in a few days ago *( I have been really backed up programming radios)* and it worked out great.

I was a little worried as always about drilling in the center hump, but I jus took a deap breath and dropped 4 self-tappers in it and she held down great! Customer is happy, I'm happy, its all good!

I ended up making my own mounting bracket for the siren since 1 wasnt included and I sure wasnt waiting no 8-9 weeks for a special order from Galls because we all know it would of really taken 8-9 months.

The new Gall's console is FUGLY!

Besides, I'm sure it will fall apart in weeks like the last 3 consoles they sold under their name.

Speaking of Aramark, this is the place that has their hands in everything from food service to operating sports arenas. Gall's was just one of thier investments that they really have no interest in other than making money. The don't care about supplying equipment or anything for that matter. As long as they make $$$, they're happy. If the numbers go down, watch them dump Gall's in a real hurry.
