Lumina Seat Question

Post by JAYMZ »

I have literally been given (read = FREE ) a pair of bucket style seats for a Chevy Lumina. Only issue that I can see so far is... They are power seats. My current split bench is not powered.

Would any of you guys know if these seats would work manually (without much difficulty) or if they were easily hooked up in the vehicle? IE: Apply the appropriate power and ground and they work type deal.

Any help would be great. Thx

If they have internal switches, just run hot/ground to the seat via #12 wire and breaker at 30A. Don't fuse them- they'll blow.

If it has external switches, you can easily add them in a small box and mount it near the side of the seat and cover the box with carpet.

Very cool. I was hoping so.

I'm going to look at them tomorrow to make sure I want them. The guy giving them to me runs a body shop and owes me the favor so if I want them they're mine.

If anyone else has any manuals they could loan me I would appreciate it. Otherwise I'll probably go buy a Chiltons to be sure.

Jaymz-
Not sure if it'll help, but I have the Haynes manual for our cars. I'll look at it when I get home and let you know.

I can speak for 95 and newer, super easy to make the seats work. A #12 and a breaker, and you are good to go, seats from a Monte Carlo will bolt right in as well.

I did a power seat in my Mother in law's Lumina, took about an hour start to finish, and I changed the manual rack out to the power rack.

Cool. This is going to be a springtime project in all likelyhood due to budget constraints. I can't reconfigure the radios and such until I get some cashola to buy a new console. Plus it'll be warmer in the spring which means I can do this in my driveway and not have to worry about finding a heated garage to do this at.
