What radios do you own?: HT1250 VHF, CDM1550 UHF

Post by mavericknet »

Aside from the difficulty in obtaining CDM (HT) series (well at least for me anyway), any body have really good experiences with either the Pro series or Radius 1225 (mobile and portable) they could share, or better yet anybody had the ability to compare them that could share their experiences.

Thanks,
From the man having to spec out a new radio setup in three days.

For the hardware and solidity, the ht and cdm series are better.

The P1225 is very fragile and if you drop-it, you can have some problem like CPU, cpu oscillator and failure on the board. The ht series is better with more option. It's not perfect but the p-1225...

The m-1225 is a good radio; i have no problem with this model. The CDM series are good but more expensive.

Sorry for the poor english.

The P1225s can get dropped once or twice before problems.

The HT series look to be durable so far.

The M1225 has been good. It does have some audio circuit problems. No MDC either.

The CDMs have nice features, but not unlike the HT series, they have too many firmware upgrades every month. They are proving to be reliable, however.

Mavericknet - I can't talk for the 1225 series, haven't used them other than a friend who owns a GR1225 & seems to like it. For the Pro series rigs, I tend to like them a lot, but I must say that doesn't hold true for everybody. Another negative would be the firmware upgrades. I got my HT1250 1 year to the date (lol) - and the CDM1550 in mid July with little or no problems, however radios made earlier have many reported problems, but nothing a flash upgrade shouldn't fix. Both rigs are loaded with features and for someone like me, I love it! But for others, it's just not necessary, and can be a hassle even. Anyway, hope you make the right choice.

I much prefer the HTs over the P1225s, they are much more durable. Although, the P1225s are easier to fix when they do break.

The M1225s are so far 100% reliable, I haven't seen ANY come back in for service yet. I do like the feature set of the CDMs over the M1225, and they have also been extremely reliable, very few hardware issues.

I wouldn't worry too much about all the talk of firmware upgrades. If you are buying NEW radios, then they will have the latest firmware, and there's a night & day difference between these & older versions.

I HAD A P1225 UNTIL I HAD TO REPAIR THE MIC FOR THE THIRD TIME, BOUGHT ONE OF THE FIRST HT 1250'S AND HAVEN'T HAD A SINGLE PROBLEM WITH IT, THE DURABILITY IS EXCELLENT AND THE BATTERIES LAST A LOT LONGER. I HAVE USED M1225'S AS WELL AND NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS. I PURCHASED A CDM1550 4 MONTHS AGO AND ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT, THE AUDIO IS MUCH BETTER THAN THE 1225 AND ADDITIONAL FEATURES/CHANNELS ARE WELL WORTH THE EXTRA $

MY EXPERIENCE SO FAR HAS DETERMINED THE PROFESSIONAL SERIES CDM/HT TO BE THE MOST COST EFFICIENT RADIOS ON THE MARKET
