What radios do you own?: APX / Astro 25 / Harris

If your siren dek is set up like mine, one of the buttons is programed as on/off and will activate whatever was last selected or is the default tone. So if I want exrad to work, I select it and then hit the dek enable button and it works. Wail is my default tone so if I turn on the dek without selecting EX RAD the siren will activate.

That could be embarrassing / interesting! Especially if you're a "vol'y" pulling up behind a Trooper.

I don't think that he'd see the humor in it though. I hope that the rest of you do though.

I have mine setup to boot up in "LAST STATE" so EXRAD is selected by default at startup. this would be F2, F9, F7 in the RSS. If you have the A9 heads you can remove the DEK and program the Head to do siren/pa functions.
You still have to hit SIREN to turn on the EXRAD and siren tones. The only functions that should work on a one button entry is PA, MAN, and AIRHORN, MAN and AIRHORN being momentary on/off.

Well when it was on my VHF all i had to do is Push the ExRd to route audio outside then push again to remove it. But now if ExRd is pushed it locks on and does not do anything but lite up under the button, i also have to push the Manual Button to get out of ExRd. When it warms up a bit here i will swap them and see what happens.... As far as LAST State i dont think mine will do ExRd only AirHorn and the Siren Tones........Gordon

when you go to the RSS go f2,f9,f6. it should be like this:
public address
option audio routing disabled
P.A. Ign Sense enabled
EXRD ign sense enabled
default PA volume level 9
Siren/PA after reset last state
Siren
tones enabled
Manual siren tone airhorn
Siren Ign Sense enabled
on the DEK is your exrad button programmed as exRad A or ex rad B?
A is siren on/off
B is standalone
