Hey Guys this is the scoop, Just got an MTS2000. I go to turn it on and it gives me "A C1" on the 6 digit readout. I try to read the codeplug and it gives the error "codeplug too new for aplication", but I have the newest update for MTSX. When my other tech tried to clone it, it gave him an error "the feature set of this codeplug does not match the feature set of the radio. Program Radio Failed."
I have never ran into this before, and talking to several programmers outside of my shop, no one else has run into this around here. Any help would be extremely appreciated.

You say you have the newest RSS version, but is it the latest DOS 6.05.00, or is it the Windows CPS? If the radio has been programmed with the Windows CPS, you won't be able to read it with even the latest DOS version. You could clone an older DOS archive into it & then be able to read it, but the model & Flashcode have to be identical (unless you're dealing with LAB RSS).

You can read an MTS2000 programmed with the windows CPS 1.05.00 in DOS 6.05.00. They are completely interchangable except you cannot open archive files saved in DOS RSS in the Windows CPS without using the Windows CPS conversion utility and vice versa. I still use DOS RSS to tune radios, I find it easier to use than MTS2000 Windows tuner.

I have tried to get into the service mode and the same error comes up as when i try to clone the codeplug, that the feature set is too new. I tried cloning with an old codeplug, and a new codeplug and neither would go. I tried to flash the radio to see if that would fix it, but i got the error that my SRIB could not communicate with radio.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried reading the codeplug using your SRIB and service cable in the Normal mode? I heard a rumor that some MTS2000 radios will not program unless you use the SRIB, service cable and set it to normal mode.
I had a couple MTS2000 controllers that gave me the same errors. Unfortunately I don't have a SRIB to use so I sent them back.

The service mode Twisted Pear was referring to is accessed by pressing the small side button directly above the PTT button, 5 times, within 10 seconds after the radio is finished it's self test. It will then display the model & serial number, as well as the Flashcode. Once you have the Flashcode, you may be able to clone from another unit with an identical Flashcode. Since you have gotten as far as seeing the "feature set doesn't match" error on a previous clone attempt, it looks like the radio is communicating with the RSS, at least in some aspects.

Hello Higgy
Are you sure that this is a US MTS-2000 ??
Have you tried reading the radio with European MTS-2000 RSS ?? It seems to me like the errors you get is the same errors that you would get trying to read a European radio with American RSS. Also when the display reads out "A C1" it could very likely be a European MT-2100. If it's a European radio it's a MTS-2000 or a MT-2100 - most likely a MT-2100. Try it - it could be the answer for your problems. You could try reading it with RSS for MT-2100 R02.10.01 Select5 (gvn6011m) or RSS for European MTS-2000 R02.00.00 (avn6028b).
Best regards
Otto

Complain big time at your Moto sales rep. I know of a department that had power supply problems in MCS radios and after they had sent all but two of them back to the depot repeatedly, they complained and got a tech from Schaumburg ON SITE and discovered that there was a defect where holes were being burnt through the PC Board.
When I heard this (the tech from Mot showing up) I was VERY surprised especially after the Moto bashing alot of us have been doing (for legitimate reasons). Maybe the bashing is making a difference....NAAHHH
