I am looking for a mic for my Astro Saber III that can be used with the Convertacom and has digital display and HHCH options. Don't know which mics will work for it. Anyone know?
Thx

No, it's not that simple. It has been definitely established that simply having the correct handheld control head with an AVA is not enough to make the HHCH keypad and display work.
The firmware in the AVA MUST be special, non-standard firmware of a specific type in order to support the Astro HHCH. If the AVA's firmware is not this specific (and RARE) type, then the HHCH will do NOTHING useful.
Only about one in a hundred AVA's are compatible with the Astro handheld control head.
For reference, the HHCH itself is physically identical to the HMN4044D Astro Spectra HHCH or the PLN7737 XTS3000 vehicular adapter HHCH. The cable from the AVA to the HHCH is identical to the one supplied with the PLN7737.
It is not known for certain if either of these control heads is compatible with an HHCH-enabled AVA, since getting our hands on a working example has been quite a challenge.
Do NOT buy an AVA with HHCH unless you SEE it working with the HHCH. Those are very rare and there are many out there that don't work because the AVA has the wrong firmware in it for it to work with the HHCH.

Thanks, but here’s the scoop. I have an AVA (pn=NTN7227E). In the Users Guide it states the following: NOTE: To be fully functional while in the AVA console, a radio with a keypad and display must be used with a display/keypad microphone designed for that particular radio.
So after reading that statement, I assume the AVA I have is capable of supporting a display/keypad mic. I tried the HHCH mic for the XTS3000 and it gives me a failure code. After checking the Motorola site, I do not see any display/keypad mics for the ASTRO saber, however there are 2 for the regular Saber but I don’t know if they work for the ASTRO Saber (missing the 3 buttons that switch zones). So do you know of any mic that has display/keypad that the ASTRO Saber III supports?
