my visar front board is gone know. I got a excellent radio and all the accesories. Is it possible to get a 800mhz visar board and just program it like a uhf through lab and tune it an make it a uhf radio. I would hopoe someone has tried it i really dont want to buy a new radio. unfortunatly the visar front boards suck if they are dropped.

I have the same problem -- good UHF Visar with a bad controller board (mine cracked at the narrow part near the speaker.) Since I have a small surplus of Visar 800 MHz Privacy Plus radios, I plugged a controller from a working one of them into the UHF's RF section and it did nothing useful (powered on and beeped (not the self-test beep, though.) Tried to read it with Visar conventional RSS to no avail. When I replaced the controller back on the 800MHz PP Visat, it worked fine.

Did you try programming it with htlab software this will aloww you to create codeplugs for anyradio and dump them into a radio. conventional software wont let you just a thought. i would try but i dont have a 800mhz board.

I didn't try much more than a quick read/write with conventional RSS. I didn't have enough time to play. If I get time this week, I'll try and will post the results.
