Hi Y'all,
Finally got the minivan for my wife. She doesn't want a hole in the roof, and I'm too tired to fight about it. No magmount or glass mount either, if I can help it.
So, I'm thinking trunk lip mount on the driver's side of the hood. It will be either 2m ham band (high band) with a 5/8 Larsen or GMRS with a 5dB collinear. 25 w max I'd say. And power will be direct from the battery.
The owners' manual for the van suggests any antenna be on the roof, and yeah, that's great - if you can do it. So any thoughts on RF affecting the computer or anything? This van is LOADED with every gadget, so . . . I fear it could be an issue.
Thoughts? Thanks guys.

This is good news. Thank you to both. I have to go see about the fenders now if they're plastic or not.
And the antennas are now mounted on the roof of my Ranger. I had it professionally done and I think it was well worth it. That thing has a double wall roof. Yuck.
Thanks again.
