1. How easy/difficult is it to find programming fixtures for these programmers? Specifically looking for an MX interface.

2. Are these units limited to he commercial bands or will they program 420-450 ham band without heroic modification?

The MX requires different adapters (and firmware), depending on if you have a PROM or EEPROM memory module.

You can find them from time to time on E-bay or at government or municipal surplus auctions.

A 450-470 MX will slide to 440 - 450 ham freq's.
