I have never dealt with any model of STX, what are their typical specs ie. Trunk types, conventional/simplex capabilities, etc. Also, are they FULLY rss programmable (I do have access to a programming cable) or are only some features programmable this way. ... anybody...?

Hi:

With respects to your Question, its pretty
tough to answer in a short form.

Older generation STX's ( JNC types ) were
mostly type l ( Pretty much obsolete ) at this time....As Fire Depeartments system
requirements evolved, so did the need for
a radio such as the STX821 ( some of them
are type 1 only too ) so you have to be a
little careful.

One should know if the radio has the GPL 1.0
or GPS 1.0 Firmware, as that is a later generation radio ( which Motorola now hates )
as they are easy to manipulate compared to a
MTX8000....True Enhanced STX821's will do Type l, ll, lli & Conventional. But since
these radios can easily be manipulated, so
does the possibility of the radio getting
changed around...

So, you need to be a little cautious, or you
could end up with a usless radio. I have a
few if you are interested in a Premium Radio
fully warranteed to work on your system or
will refund your monies
