I have been trying to find a source for this tool, and a real name for it.
It's a almost like a hollow shaft screwdriver but with no screwtip. It is totally hollow with a sharp tip on one end. Used for piercing grommets in cars to run wires through. HELP!!!!
Thanks!

I took one of my hollow shaft nutrivers & ground the head off, leaving the hollow shaft. Ground an edge on it so it would punch the material.
Was cheap & effective.

Sounds like your talking about an Awl. http://www.mytoolstore.com/klein/650.html
A bit more info: It was totally hollow on both sides - after punching the tool through the grommet, you can run the wire through the center of the tool and then remove the tool leaving only the wire.
Thanks!

Never thought of using it that way. I was poking it therough, inserting the wire & pulling it back with the wire in it.Jay G. wrote:A bit more info: It was totally hollow on both sides - after punching the tool through the grommet, you can run the wire through the center of the tool and then remove the tool leaving only the wire.

Just droped mine into the lathe & drilled through the handle into the hollow shaft. Much neater!.
