Motorola HT1000 Radio UHF and VHF question flashing light

Post by troymelina »

Hi I was hoping someone could help me with a couple of questions I have, I have two sets of Motorola HT1000 UHF radios (B version) and two sets of HT1000 VHF radio's (A version) and when I transmit on the 2 VHF radio's the radio receiving the transmission the red light on the top stays red but on my UHF radio's the light blinks and I have no Idea why. Is this something someone has done in the programming? I also have new batteries in the radio’s. And when I bought the radio’s off e-bay the UHF radio’s would not transmit on channel 1-3 but has frequencies that work on channels 4-16 is this because someone had the first 3 frequencies setup on a repeater? Could someone help me with these 2 questions, thanks

Are the UHF's trunking or conventional? Usually the light blinking indicates a low battery, but it can be programmed for other things. Look in your radio wide settings and see what the light is set up for. As for not transmitting, if they're set up for trunking, it will not transmit if it's out of range of the system.

What radios do you own?: RR Spectras, MT2K, SS3, HT1K

I don't know about your VHF HT1000's. It sounds like your UHF HT1K's are set up for either PL or DPL. When my VHF HT1000 is set for CSQ RX (position A on the ABC switch) and receives, there is no light. When it's set for PL RX (position B) and receives, the light flashes red. I'm not sure why the LED would stay lit while receiving. It usually only lights solid when transmitting.

FWIW, I have a UHF JT1000 (probably similar to your HT1000). The top LED blinks red during TX (the owner's manual even states this). The LED does not blink red on RX unless I have a PL tone attached to the frequency the radio is on.

UHF radio red light blinks on the receiving radio.

The Motorola HT1000 UHF radio blinks on the receiving radio not the transmitting one.Does this mean someone programmed the radio to do a PL tone attached to the frequency in the radio? thanks

The LED appears to be programmed for Low Battery AND BUSY.
