JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS A DIAGRAM TO INSTALL A HEADLIGHT FLASHER ON A CHEVY 1500 01-04, THE CORRECT WAY.
THESE UNITS WERE INSTALLED BY SOMEONE ELSE AND I THINK THEY SHOULD BE DONE DIFFERENT. THEY USED CODE 3 711 WITH AN EXTERNAL POLARITY CHANGING RELAY. ANY WAYS, ITS JUST A RIG JOB TO ME, OR IT COULD BE THE ONLY WAY THERE IS TO WIRE ONE. WHELEN TECH DOESNT EVEN RECOMMEND A HL FLASHER ON THESE VEHICLES. ONLY DROP IN HALOGENS OR STROBES. THESE UNITS JUST ARENT BRIGHT ENOUGH FOR THESE DEPUTIES TO GRAB ATTENTION. THANKS FOR ANY INFO.

DO NOT try to install headlight or taillight flashers in GM products. Due to the automatic lights, DRL's, etc you stand a very good chance of doing major damage to your vehicle and it won't be covered by warranty The only safe way to install halogen flashers is to use the add in type. Sorry to bust your bubble.

Do a search of this forum, I believe the flasher subject for late model GM vehicles have been covered quite a bit, with flasher make/models listed.
I know there are a few things in the works as GM has changed around some stuff. Last I knew, Whelen and Sound Off? are the only ones that had flasher out for the headlights and worked only with the Impala with the 9C1 and 9C3 packages.
The biggest problem seems to be that its all electronically controlled via the car's computer, and many have been destroyed by wigwags.

It's perfectly safe/acceptable/etc. to install a flasher system on any newer GM vehicle....IF....you know what you're doing. I've installed a lot of these and simply install a relay that, when the flasher is operating, isolates the vehicle from the headlights entirely. If you install a DPST relay at the PCM and 'break' the wires coming from the fuse block for the L/R high beams, it works fine. Wire the flasher on the N/O side and the supply wires from the PCM on the N/C side.

thanks db comm i think the way this code 3 flasher was installed in this manner to isolate wiring from bcm for no feed back problems.
