2002 Chevy Z71 Tahoe Install question...

Post by usmcguttentag »

I just bought a 2002 Chevy Z71 Tahoe, all black, a real sexy SUV. I plan on doing some awesome install work on the vehicle with several radio's, sirens, and lights. I want a center console in which I WON'T have to remove the factory console. I have seen that jotto desk makes one for the 03-05 models, but I have a 02. Does anyone have any suggestions or examples, help would be awesome. -Scott

I have an '03 Z71 that I equipped about a year ago.

1- Havis Shields VS Equip. Mount
2- Unitrol TM4 200W Siren/Light Controller
3- 2 FS Dynamax Speakers
4- FS Strobe PSU with LED sync.
5- Amber LED Moudles in the front grille.
6- Red LED Moudules custom mounted under the Whelen LED Advisor
7- SHO-ME Multi-Pattern Alternating Headlight module
8- /\/\ CDM 1250 (UHF)
9- iCOM 2800 Dual-Band radio
10- Remote DTMF control of all light and siren functions, as well as an integrated module connected to the BCM for window/lock/security control via radio.

very nice install.

I so wish that GM would not put those horribly big consoles in the middle of their new vehicles.

I do not believe the Havis or Jotto console will fit the OEM console from 02. Starting in 03 GM made the consoles physically larger than previous years.

Have you thought of doing what I did with my burb? Replacing the OEM console completely? I used Gamber Johnson and Jotto Desk parts.

I think apco25 is right. The mount can be modified, however, to fit an '02 (so says Havis Shields). I've actually reworked a few things since those pictures were taken (including removing my wife's Target bacgs from the back). I'll take some new ones and post them.

Hey dbcomm

How much was that console from Havis shield cost you?

I was thinking of doing the same thing to mine, but I have a 2000 suburban... soo I know defintley that OEM console I have wont work, probably will need to get that console from a wreck suburban or tahoe.

That or going for the same setup as apco25.. wonder how much his setup cost.

The console was less than $300. I can't remember the exact price on it.

I can post figures on mine.

Just base console cost or are you looking for the total install?

The total install price would be nice, if you could do that I would appreciate it..... I just want to see what is my option on price range right now.... that and debateing if I can also put a front tilt console so I can view equip better or going with what DB had.... only prob with that is... am trying to find out if anybody knows if the 2003 center console would fit a 2000... probably not.

no it will not fit - the consoles are larger starting in 2003 than the 2001 and 2002 models.
