msf problem #2 for the weekend

Post by batdude »

ok, got one here, single beep then double beep.

double beep is a PA problem.

checked power supplies - ok.

single beep i think is battery revert....but this is not a reverting station.

anyone have any ideas on that one?

i'll test the PA by hitting it with some power and see if it goes... still checking plugs and such on the bottom of the RF deck.

ok, double beep fixed (sorta) - disconnected the 350w final and now just running the 40w IPA (suspect HPA wiring)

now someone tell me how in the hell to turn off battery revert...

I think 1 beep is a code plug error but I can't find it in the $%#@$# manual. I'll keep looking in the MSF and the PURC 5K book for you. TX and RX lock OK??

update

was watching the movie coneheads and i had a lightning bolt go thru my head

went out and checked the wiring.... the (@#@()#@ leads on the HPA were swapped... IPA output to HPA OUTput and HPA INput to repeater output.

don't ask me - i got it that way.

but it's doing rated power now.... i love how the fans change pitch when the station keys @ 350w.... damn awesome

anyway, i still need help with maybe a scan of the wiring diagram for the battery revert circuitry.......

one thing - i am getting an A.22 and L.0f error on power up - these clear with a reset of the station... but i'd like to know what they are.

AC Fail [battery revert] is a low going signal which originates in the battery revert power supply.

It is routed through power supply J603 pin 6, through W204 to the interconnect board below the RF casting.

It comes through the interconnect board and goes to the Station Control Board [SCB or SSCB] main power connector J701 pin 4.

No "L" error codes listed.

"A" = Audio error
"d" = Digital error
"E" = Operational error
"o" = Test mode error
"U" = Undefined error

A22 = TRC encoder to line 2 path failure or Line 2 EEPOT failure.

Probable cause: EEPOT C adjusted incorrectly

Corrective Action: Perform alignment procedure. If failure still occurs, replace TTRC.

funny thing is

THIS IS NOT A BATTERY REVERTING STATION (at least as far as i can tell)

it's an honest to god C93CXB 350w msf repeater station.....

The battery revert signal enters the SSCB @ J701-4.

Did you look at that pin with a meter to see if it is low?

There is a 10 K tie up to 5V on the SSCB before the line goes into the I/O ASIC.

If something is pulling that pin low - you will get that alarm - battery revert station or not.
