Help with power locks - e450 chassis

Post by Jay G. »

Hello all!
A question here:
2004 E450 Cutaway Chassis - - now an ambulance for my volunteer FD.
I believe it came with Factory keyless entry, but we were never given the remotes. I have a remote from my own 99 explorer I'd love to use on this. Is there some way of programming it to work? Is there some way of making sure it really is factory keyless entry and not aftermarket? Any help greatly appreciated! It is a E450 cutaway chassis - Diesel Engine.

If I remember right all the Fords with factory door locks have the keyless entry. The problem is, they don't allow the doors to lock with the remote while the key is in the ignition. I'm sure that is what you had in mind. You can buy the remote from Ford and then program it for your vehicle, but I think once they sync to a vehicle they can't be change, I may be wrong on that.

I took an ambulance and put an alarm kit in that had the power door locks and put solenoids to be able to lock the box also. This allowed the driver to lock the vehicle while they were out of it while it was running. We also installed the kit from Kussmaul that allowed the key to be removed while the engine is running. We just set it up where the alarm doesn't activate while the engine is running, just lock the doors.

What radios do you own?: AM/FM

or you can run another doorlock switch (sealed for weather attacks) up into the grille area and place it behind the grille for access to the trucks power locks from outside.
