I am preparing for a use variance application for site project. One question from the local code enforcement guy was signage. BTW, I'm not getting any flack about the tower itself, just the shelter & site issues.
Here's what I propose doing, signage wise:
On the fence surrounding the shelter & tower base:
On the tower base, adjacent to the climbing pegs:
Shelter Door
On the AC meter pedastal and shelter door:
All but the last are stock items & I'm pretty sure this covers everything
On the last sign, pedestal should be spelled pedEstal, not pedAstal.
I wouldn't expect too much RF to be emitted from the building as most of the equipment and cable will be shielded by virtue of the way they're manufactured. Unless you'll be drawing hundreds of kw of electricity, the 60 Hz power shouldn't pose a problem either.
Sure seems like an overkill to me. Maybe you need to make sure that waterfowl can read the signs, because the EPA and animal rights groups will jump all over you if you endanger so much as a mosquito !

Thanks for catching my typo. In my area, buildings with multiple electrical services have a sign like that (without the typo!) in the event the FD has to remove power to the building.
Re the other signage, it does cover everything. I'm attempting to figure out what's "just enough" and not run afoul of the AHJ (and hopefully not end up on http://www.hamsexy.com ).
DC power systems I know - this stuff is a learning curve for me.
The door is open on the microwave oven , and it's operating...
We have the one for the guys that might want to take a ride down the guy wires. (Don't laugh, It really happened at one of our sites. The result was as you might imagine. To get to the tower, they violated an outer fence that also contained a large electrical substation, as well as the fence immediately surrounding the tower.)
And the one for the guys that want to climb the tower to write their name on the top of the tower next to the beacon. (It really happened at one of our sites, too)

It has been a while since i went looking for the signs. Think tessco and a couple of other major suppliers carry these signs.
The FCC has a couple of documents on this subject. they also have information on where they should be placed. Don't forget to post the ASR # for the tower if it is over 200 feet. Needs to be in a couple of locations. One on the gate to the property and again on the fence around the tower and on the tower. The sign on the tower should be readable from the property gate. May take a set of glasses to read it, but it must be visable.
I have always posted the red RF warning sign on the tower right at the climbing ladder. This way anyone trying to climb the tower has it staring them right in the face at eye level. You can't miss it.
Tessco has them - we buy ours there, but not everyone can buy from Tessco. You can actually buy them directly from the site I linked to for the pix - http://www.radhaz.com. I was gonna download them to my server, and link to them there, but that copyright message got me concerned. This way if they don't like the free advertising, they can kill the link. Also, make sure that there's a decent physical barrier to prevent Joe public from getting into any type of hot zone. As I mentioned earlier, we had a clown try riding the guy wires down. The belt he was using as a pulley / brake didn't last long (this was before my time at the Company). The family tried to sue. As I understand it, after it was explained that he went over a ten foot fence clearly signed "Danger - High Voltage - Keep Out", and "xxxxxxx 230 KV Substation", went through the sub to the tower, went over that fence, climbed the tower, and pulled his stunt, it was clear that he had to be looking for a Darwin Award.
Actually if you have applied for and received an ASR number you must post it, regardless of tower height. And don't post energy level signs for higher than the actual levels as a joke. You may suddenly find the Feds or state DEP asking for your environmental impact statement and RF survey logs. Or as Jack Webb used to say,
