Backward Installation

Post by libuff »

ok... made some rather permanent "screw hole" damage on some of the panels in my Dodge Intrepid... does anybody know of any filler products that could fill the holes and look somewhat the same color?

I am not too sure about the Intrepid but on a few different other vehicles I have done one of 2 things.

I have taken a finger of thick silicone, filled the hole, made it as flat as possible, then later went over it with a razor to make even, then find the color paint at a crafts store or auto store and carefully touched it up,

or use fiberglass repair kit you can get at wally world for a few bucks and do the same process basically but if u get the paint close enough you can make your painted area a tid bit bigger and go over it lightly with fine grade sandpaper and it does very well...this has worked best for me..

Trust me, YOU will always know its there, but a person who has never seen the inside of your car will barely know..

I have sold past vehicles and people not even notice..

Hope this helps...

Or, drop by the local salvage yard and pick up a replacement.

I've done that before to restore ex-service vehicles that had been butchered with equipment installs. A common enough make and model, which the Intrepid definitely is, increases your chances of finding one sitting in a salvage yard with the exact same interior color.

You would be surprised how cheap those parts can be had. Around here the salvage yards charge next to nothing for interior parts, they just don't make much money off the plastic parts.
