MT-1000 Antenna connector/BNC?

Does someone know/recall who has for sale? Or where I can get a connector to run an MT-1000 to a BNC (to a mag-mount) I can't recall if its an SMA to Bnc ? or the threads are smaller? thanks Jim

MT1000 uses a stud connector for the antenna. RF needs to be tapped off the acc'y. connector to get a balanced load. You mention a BNC, perhaps you're referring to the HT1000 ?

There is an RF adapter for the MT1000, goes on the accessory connector and has a 1/8th inch mono jack, looks like the audio accessory one except it has an antenna logo on it near the attachment screw. The factory adapter cable was a length of RG-174 or similar size cable with a 1/8th inch mono plug on one end and a SO-239 on the other.

In my opinion the best way to accomplish this is with a Convertacom. If i can find a cheap one i plan on using it for programming, easier than having to screw on a cable every time.

I'd like to thank everyone for the replies... I don't own an MT-1000 its for a ham-operator 72 miles from me. He has a rubber-duck on it..& I thought there was something he can attach to his mag mount.. like "RadioSouth" said its not an HT-1000 because I have the adapter for an HT-1000, to connect to a BNC..picked it up from ebay, from Henry radio, or kawamall ... thanks again folks.... As an alternative to the antenna adapter - there was a speaker mic model # NTN5559A that had a TNC connector on it for a ducky on the mic that could be used if it could be aquired for little or no $. Just a thought...

hmm..

Never seen an MX adapter, i wonder how good, or bad, that works. The MX connector doesn't have a ground connection, think of it as only connecting the center of the coax.

dont know, i found that site from the scanner install in the vehicle forums. All the external antennas i use are either from the convertacom or that little black adapter you mentioned.

Let me save you some money. Don't waste your time with these adapters. I not only bought the very model that firegood shows in the link,but, bought a different version that looked more like it should fit from an outfit called "Rf Digital". Neither work at all. Like kbonly said, there's no ground plane reference with one of them attached. Fellow member kc7gr made me aware of this when I tried one on my HT50's which have the identical MX thread the MT1000 has and, got no signal on the meter. One of my ham buddies who also has an MT1000 confirmed to me that you only have the multiport connection for the Converta-com for an external antenna. However, I didn't ask him about the speaker mic that fineshot1 mentions so there may be an out there. Luckily, for me the HT50 has a 3/32 sub mini phone jack that allows for an external antenna. I made my own adapter with RG174 cable.

I still hve a few audio adaptors for the MT1000/HT600/P200 radios.
With a simple change on the pins it makes the RF adaptor you need.
