900Mhz SmartNET simulcasting

Post by /\/\y 2 cents »

Hi guys.

I am working with several 900Mhz SmartNET trunking systems. I am trying to do something like a poor man's smartzone or at least just a simulcast between 4 seperate systems where you can switch over to another tower/SmartNET system as you drive through from system to system, but all talkgroups remain patched/simulcasted. I am trying to get around buying a SmartZONE controller. Can I use leased t1 circuits? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve

I wouldn't worry about it...anyone who might be able to answer this type of question most definitely reads this forum.

Patching individual talkgroups together isn't too big of a deal, as you know. Linking complete & separate SmartNet systems together however is no small feat. You can't simply 'connect' them with T1 lines & have it work. There is a lot of special hardware & software involved. I could go into much more detail, but it would take me pages to even begin to explain how it all ties together. In my opinion you're on a very wild goose chase in this case.

Maybe somebody else here will go into more detail on it.
