syntor x9000 programming

Post by lunzac »

hey guys
just curious what cable i need to program a syntor x9000 and where it actually attaches to the radio. also i heard a rumor about needing seperate RSS to program the remote head seperate from programming the radio. is this true? if so, what kind of cable do i need for programming the head?

The cable is similar to a siren cable, if you've seen one of those. It goes between the radio deck and the big does-everything connector. Male and female connectors molded into one big block.

Yes, you program radio and control head separately, through the same cable.

Separate programs (RDPROG and CHPROG).

Some people take a siren cable and modify it.

Polaris Industries sells X9000 cables.

Or post a wanted message.

"Separate programs (RDPROG and CHPROG). " But part of the RSS for Syntor X9000. The RSS requires a very slow computer as it was written back in the 286 days. And of course, DOS only. A 286 10mhz running DOS 6.xx is recomended.

The needed diagrams for making up a programming cable are at BatLabs under the Programming cables section.

For the ham bands a different RSS is used.

I used a 486 25Mhz, i can program them all day long without troubles, but this is version 7.11 of the RSS for CHPROG, and version 6.00 for RDPROG. There is a version 6 opened up for the ham band also, which i use, just in case your interested in having Siren/PA, or VRS. The older 5.02 ham band version of the RSS doesn't have all the features, you need at least version 6 for that.

The cable is getting harder to find to modify into a programming cable, that is for a decent price.

I just add on a programming connector of my liking to the control head cable at the radio end. I usually use 8 pin inline male round microphone connectors and a short piece of shielded cable. Put a rubber cap of the connector to protect it when not in use.

As for Polaris Industries, they offer an X9000 cable? News to me, i don't see it anywhere on their website.

Here are some links on yet another way to make a custom programming cable interface (checkout the Batlabs page for the pin numbers):

BTW, Polaris made a Syntor X 9000 programming cable for years and years. They may have dropped it from the product lineup recently.

X9000 Model Identification Help

Post by bbrantner »

I have a syntor VHF high power radio in my possession with a display tag that indicates it is a SyntorX9000, model # T73KXJ7J04BK. During my research on batlabs.com and here on this message board, I am unable to find a reference to this particular model #. What am I missing? Thanks for the information.

bbrantner, please refrain from multiple posts of the same question in different threads. I have answered your question in the thread you started on your question.

Polaris X9000 cable

Post by WB6NVH »

Polaris was still showing an X9000 programming cable in their sales material as of a few months ago, but when I inquired as to availability and price I never got an answer back.

It's simplest to manufacture one. Expect to pay about $ 100 or more for one on eBay.
