06 Chevy Silverado 1500 4X4 Console question

Post by DevilDoc »

Hello I just purchased a New Silverado (My first full size pick up) I love it. However I can't seem to get an answer asking the manufactures so I am going to ask some of you.

I want to put a small console in. The question is the shifter for the 4x4 system is on the floor. There looks to be plenty of room to mount a console down there but I can't be sure.

Anyone have or know what the best console is to use in this situation? I like the Havis shield http://www.havis.com/consolidator_conso ... ries7.html Or the one from Gamber Johnson. But neither say they can be used with the shifter on the floor. I do have the bucket seats with the center rest. Does this make a diffrence? So many questions. I tried to do a search here but didn't really find what I was looking for. Before I shell out the money I want to make sure it will fit.

Any yes there is already 2 NMO mounts punched through the roof I don't mess around. :D

What year is your vehicle?...Most of the newer Silverados I have seen do not have floor shifters for 4x4. Can you post a pic, or find one online to give us an idea of what you are working with?

BTW.. good job on punchin two NMO's already.....when some guys get their new toys it is like cutting teeth for them to even press the tip of the bit against the factory paint....lol

Hehe its a 06 automatic. I got a strange kind of truck with this one. It is a regular cab but I have the LT1 package Power everything cruise control Off road package locking rear diff skid plates ect....

The shifter is on the floor on the right side of the hump (Driver side) I will snap some pics this afternoon. Most bowties have the push button 4x4 system this is a shifter.

Like I said there appears to ba a lot of room down there. I'll post some pics later.

I have an 05 Z71 Silverado Ext cab[4 door]. My 4WD stuff is on the dash, I would like to know some ideas on where to mount the head for my X9000 where it would be easy to change modes, where I don't have to lean down. Steve
