HT1550 Intermittent Noise Burst Problem

Post by cracked »

I have a UHF HT1550 with an annoying tendency to emit a split second white noise burst when sitting idle. It may do this intermittently every hour or two, on any channel, wherever I am, even when not scanning, and even with tone squelch enabled. I'm sure there is no activity on the channel when this occurs, and the receive activity LED does not light. Would this happen to be a known problem with a known fix?

I also have an HT1550 and the rest of the dept. has HT750s and we have the same issue. All of a sudden the radio will squelch most of the time waking us during nap time...LOL.... but it does happen, I don't think there is a way to fix it, or better yet I haven't found a way to stop it. But just the same your not the only one that has this problem I think it might be a Waris Series trait.

My CP200 did this and I changed squelch setting to AND OR. Radio is quiet now.

Where might I find this "AND/OR" squelch option for my HT1550? The only options I can find via the keypad "Utilities" menu or via the CPS are squelch "Normal" or "Tight."

AND/OR unmuting rules only apply when a QCII or MDC receive call is used on a given channel.

Something you could try playing with is the Unmute/Mute Rule setting, which is in the Options tab per-personality.

The Waris line has been known to generate a few self-quieting frequencies when certain carrier frequencies are used. One that comes to mind from a while back was 155.850.
