Maxtrac UHF D34 audio whine above 465 MHz transmit

Post by radiocat37 »

I have a D34MJA73A5AK UHF 449-470 Maxtrac 2-ch. The thing works great except on transmit above 465 (or thereabouts) it has a whine in the audio. I have low SWR, 50A power supply, great receive audio across the UHF range, but I programmed it for 468 TX and got a noise I have never heard before; sounds like a high pitched shrill. Any thoughts??? :o
Brian Griffin: Ah, if my memory serves me, this is the physics department.
Chris Griffin: That would explain all the gravity.
.

Lois: Peter, you're drunk again.
Peter: No, I'm just exhausted because I've been up all night drinking.

As you get near the range of the VCO, it will start to "ring".
High pitched single tone, I would not describe it as a "whine" which would be dual tone.
Try adjusting the TX VCO a tad.
