GP300 Conversion

Post by bellersley »

I've got a VHF GP300 Model P93YPC20A2AA that I'd like to make do Select-5 signalling and 16 channels. I see this site (and Toolkit) can do the channel expansion for me, but how would I do the signalling conversion?

Your 2 channel radio can only be bumped up to 16 if the manuf. date
is prior to the cutoff date which was sometime in '93 Easy way to tell is
pop off your channel knob and move it into positions past 2 and see in what fashion it repeats the channels you have in 1 and 2. If it goes
1-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-...... your in luck if it goes 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2..... you're out of luck. Good luck.

First,you must know,the firmware of a select 5 GP300 is different and also the codeplug.You can´t make a select 5 GP300 out of a PL GP300!
You can expand the channels up to 16 with this:
For GP300-5t use GPutilities(Gput.exe)
For GP300-PL use the Toolkit.
You can only expand GP300-PL radios build before 1994!
The GP300-5t has no date limits(the older ROM1 radios have only a smaller EEPROM and not all the options of the ROM2 radios).
For more infos, look at my homepage.
