I have determined through trial and error that if you program your Minitor V to scan 2 channels, when there is an alert the SV will not record very much because if the carrier drops briefly after the alerting tone pair or between tone pairs, the scan resumes and the SV stops recording.
I had mine set up for normal (probability) scan and dynamic SV length with delayed revert.
So now if I want to make sure I get the whole page recorded by the SV I keep the pager on monitor or selective call, switching to scan only after the dispatch is over.
If someone knows how to work around this I would love to hear it.

Nope, I've got about a dozen M5s set up as follows:
Silent Scan
Dynamic SV length
Revert N at about 6 seconds (pager takes 6 seconds of carrier loss to revert)
Works just fine, and our dispatchers ALWAYS drop carrier between the tone set and the dispatch traffic. Are you running the latest programming software and have you flashed to the latest firmware, just for shits?
