900 MHZ GTX LTR slow access compared to kenwood

I am dealing with a customer that has 900MHZ GTX LTR portables that have slow access to the trunking system compared to there Kenwoods. any help?

In my experience.....GTX is slow, slow,slow. Kenwood has always done handshakes faster. If I remember right, there was a firmware update to the GTX back in '96/'97 time frame to fix something with signalling but don't remember if it was LTR or Privacy Plus, Wavetar or xmo may know about this one.
