I need a amplified speaker recomendation...

Post by d_stew »

I have an HSN1000A speaker that is dead. I need something to replace it. Here's the application:

In a car, simply as an amplified speaker to plug into a receiver's headphone output. So, I don't need a mute for PA. I just need a audio input, and power.

The question:

What should I look for that has really good amplification (since it's getting plugged into a non-amplified headphone output), would be easy to modify, and is common enough that I can find one quickly? The priority is in that order.

I don't want to purchase a moble monitor for a scanner, because anything with good amplification is going to be more expensive than buying a used professional radio speaker here or on ebay.

Look under Convertacom on ebay. I bought a bunch of NIB MT1000 MVA speakers on Ebay. 12 watts I believe. Seems like I paid $15-20 shipped.
