ht600 speaker/ mic

Post by lunzac »

hey, just wondering on the NMN6145B speaker/ mics for the HT600, when you connect an ear piece to the speaker/ mic does sound still come out of the speaker on the speaker/ mic or only out of the earpiece?

According to the service manual, when you plug in the remote speaker/mike, the radio's internal speaker is disabled and receive audio goes only to the remote speaker. The remote mike and PTT can be used for transmit, but the internal mike and PTT will also function if used. Whichever PTT button is pressed will enable its own microphone.

Bob is correct!

But, to add to that i think you were asking about the speaker mic which also has the earplug jack?

If you connect an earplug to it than the receive audio will be routed to that and the speaker mic audio gets silenced. Just like when you plug headphones into a radio.

Sorry, I mis-read the original question.

Yes, the headphone jack has a normally closed contact in it that will disable the internal speaker when a headphone is plugged in. I had to look at the schematic to find that little tidbit.

one more quick question about the NMN6145B. is the 2.5mm headphone jack on the microphone or on the radio connector end of the cable?

My drawing shows it in the plastic shroud that surrounds the connector that mounts onto the top of the radio.
