Modify MTS 2000 ?

Would it be possible to modify a MTS2000 MODEL III FLASHPORT PORTABLE RADIO(Frequency:896-941MHZ) to operate down to 856.23750 ? TIA

But...it won't work 40MHz out-of-band...that's about double what you could expect at the most.
