want to set maxtrac NOT to scan

Post by libuff »

is there any option to disable the scan feature of the maxtrac?

i have a bunch of these connected to pyramid vehicle repeaters, and the users keep putting them into scan while repeating... annoying...

Just blank the scan list.

I think a savvy user can still make it scan by manually selecting channels on the front panel.

You could blank the radio and reinitialize it as a slightly different model number with all the same features except scanning, or replace the firmware with one that doesn't know how to scan, but that's pretty drastic.

A piece of scotch tape covering the scan contact on the circuit board should do the trick.

I was just going to suggest that! LOL

It only takes a few minutes to remove the front panel and pull the display board from the head to do that. I did that to the select button on one radio to prevent changes to the scan list, at the owners request.

For some reason I want to say that there is an option in the software to disable user programmed scan. That combined with blanking all of the scan lists should solve your problem.

But ya, it's probably easier just to put tape over the contact.
