Spectra Scan issues

Post by jsdvis »

Having problems with a scan issue on priority scan. I have set for PL and carrier to unmute audio. Problem is when it receives a carrier signal it locks on that channel and will not scan anything else. Any suggestions or is this normal. I have checked and rechecked all the programming parameters of the radio but maybe I missed something.

This is normal, there is no way around. It scans for priority carrier activity and will unmute only if it is the right tone. If the right tone isn't there it still stops it from scanning and will sit on the priority channel muted.

This is a well known "feature" of the Spectra, which, after all, was a public safety radio that made its debut at a time when co-channel on public safety channels was rare.

The fix lies in the "Channel Marking" option in later products, such as the MCS2000. This fix was never implemented for plain Spectras, though it is there for Astro Spectras and XTL5000s, both of which use an entirely different programming metaphor.
