was it hacked CP or RSS?

pete was asking if a codeplug cloned from another MSF would remove it, but i dont think that would be a good idea due to other issues.

The MSF5000 I have does not ID w/PL. It's an option in the RSS for the CXB MSF5000 - mine has the lastest/greatest station firmware in it - I think 5.24.

My two bits worth:
I would presume that the "hacking" was in the "code plug" not the firmware.

If your station has "hacked" code plug just make a new one.
Archive your old code plug, noting the firmware version.
I recommend V5.xx (any ver 5)
Firmware ver shows up on the display during boot.

Your RSS (Use V 5.19, 21) has some files in the root directory of the program.
The files that are .def are blank code plugs for specific applications
You are looking for Conv.def.

Among other things, you have to specify range, in the case of uhf it will be: UHF R ll. In the change code plug screen enter frequ, pl call signs, change receive perameters if you wish (Or squelch or and squelch).

In the model options screen delete secure, as well as TTRC if yours is missing.

Use the code plug up date screen to make the new code plug version match the station firmware version, save it and blow it into the station.

You may need to do a complete audio alignment. There are plenty of help screens.

If the station firmware has been hacked, replace the SSCB firmware chip with V5.21 or later, re load CP.
Aloha, Bernie
