Greetings, I have been lurking on this board for a year or so and have been very impressed with the quality of the posts.
I have a recently purchased a VHF MT1000 and after having it programmed I have discovered that when it transmits it does not pass any audio from the microphone. I have tried transmitting with both the built in microphone and a speaker microphone (that works fine on a Radius P200) and the results are the same. The radio appears to receive okay and is transmitting PL. (I can key up a repeater that requires a PL tone, and can clearly hear the tones when listening with another radio.)
The person who programmed the radio for me mentioned that there is probably a problem with the soldering of the accessory connector on the top of the radio as only a few mw of power made it out of the BNC connector on his test cable, but the current drain appeared to be normal and he suspected that the radio was likely putting out its rated power into the antenna.
The radio is able to key up a repeater over 60 miles away so I believe it is putting out more than a few mw thru the antenna. I partially disassembled the radio and re seated all of the connectors on the flex cables and the transmit audio problem has not gone away.
At this point I'm inclined to use the radio as a paper weight or just as a receiver but I'm curious if any one has ever run across this issue and in particular if this problem could be related to the issue with the soldering of the accessory connector that has been already pointed out to me. I thought I would get some advice before spending any more time on this radio and re soldering the accessory connector.
Considering the low price I paid for the radio which included a useable battery and a rapid charger (and the programming fee was bundled in with the programming of another functional radio) I'm not going to loose any sleep over buying a dud, but I'm not quite ready to give up on this radio yet.
Thanks in advance to anyone who is able to give me any insight into this issue.

mt 1000 audio
Hi, I have the same trouble with a P-200 uhf. the service guy here said that it had been droped[which it had] and broke a chip capacitor on the solder side of board, so now it is my wifes receive only radio.
