Saber...
He meant to say 6D and 8D core radios, not B.
The buttons are programmable for things such as emergency call, and on
the 5D core (most common) radios they don't do anything. Some of the early
Saber cases don't even have these buttons.
All of the later Saber cases had these buttons, Saber I, II, III, and I-E.

I never said that the side buttons were limited to the 1E. I said that it sounds like he had a 1E because he said...k4wtf wrote:Every saber I've ever owned or seen has the same two buttons on the side. It's not limited to the 1E series.

The first release Sabers did not have the two RAT buttons below the PTT, but shortly after, they started appearing on later release radios, most are non functioning due to early CORE/COPE versions of the radios, but since they mfd. radios with updated CORE/COPE, it was simpler to just have one case style and use that.
I've also had cases without the RAT buttons, but sinc ei've never had use for them, they are simply another piece of rubber that will rip sometime in the future and allow moisture ingress into the frame.
