CDM1250 Program Problems

Post by KG4LHQ »

Hello.... I aquired a Motorola Ribless Cable from a guy here on the forums that has really good feedback.

I got it in yesterday and got everything hooked up but it wouldn't read my CDM1250 ( Ver 04.00 I think ) or something like that. I'm using 06.04.00AA to try to program it...

I tried 2 ways:

1) I used a USB to 9 Pin Serial then a 9 Pin Serial to a 25 Pin cable then cable to the radio - Put it on the right com port it should be selected as - Nothing it freezes up for about 10 seconds the I get the Can't Open Port Blah Blah. - Laptop is a 1.4 Ghz AMD Turion w/ XP Home

2) Drug out a desktop outside ( that was a site ) and hooked it all up this time no USB involved just straight 9 pin to 25pin cable to Program Cable - Still Nothing it does the same freezes up about 10 seconds then thats it. Desktop is estimated probably at being a 500 Mhz PII maybe if that.

It has the main stuff I need in it as in to my counties Fire and SO frequencies but I need to put surrounding in it and plus Ham Freq's as well.

Any help would be appreciated.

BTW I have used the same USB converter to program my HT1250 I have w/ a ribless cable...

What radios do you own?: AM/FM

you should contact that seller to see if they were able to program w/ that cable...could be a dud. Or it could need to be re-ended or something. Try a continuity tester? The good thing about those cables is they are rather easy to re-end on the radio side...

if you have to use a 9 pin to 25 pin adaptor it might now be a ribless cable. and usb adaptors almost never work
