Maratrac question

Post by mckiff »

Hello.
I have a 16 channel Maratrac with the clamshell head.
When I turn on the radio it seems to transmit by itself in three or four short bursts, for about five seconds. When I hold the ptt down and then let off it stays in transmit for about five to eight seconds. Also switched out to another clamshell head and same response.

I checked all my cables and everything is connected correctly.
Also there is no RF interference by the unit at the time.
Does anyone have any ideas. The transmitter was sitting idle on a garage shelf until recently. Any information or suggestions are greatly appreciated

Unplug the mic and power it up and see if it still transmits the short bursts or not. It might just be a crappy mic.

Otherwise use a little contact cleaner on the control head pins and cable connectors.
