==================================

A few days ago I bought a GP300 UHF to compliment my reliable old VHF GP300, turns out to be a 5T variant. I require it for amateur use on 70cms so I need all 16 channels. Also setting up this radio with its software is much different to a 'normal' '300, there are extensive tone / signaling / timing settings etc and the menues are far from user friendly or user obvious, any general advice would be much appreciated.

Hi:

As you have already discovered, the GP300-5T series
radio is a International Radio.

As such, only a Dealer [ Licensed RSS ] in the International Sector
can program the radio

It probably can be programmed with any
of the following versions: ( all of which are [ NOT ]
Licensed for use in the United States )

Ver R01.02.03, Ver R02.03.00, Ver 02.04.00

I would also urge against trying to Modify
the radio as it has a display the US RSS will
not reconize, and you could end up with a dead
radio.

You might consider just trading it off for a stock
GP300 or return to sender.

I use a 16 channel GP300-5T / Select 5 for working amateur repeaters in the UK, for this it is ideal - Channel Scan, PL on TX and RX, Live DTMF for ILink enabled repeaters and the 5 Tone tailored to give a RAT tone at the push of a button..
If you would like a copy of the codeplug from my radio, that will give you some pointers to work with, please email me with a valid return address that will accept a file attachment:
