HT1000 & Spectra.... Weird difference...

Post by matthew-baker »

I have an HT1000 D model VHF that I use as a portable. Spectra VHF that I installed in the wrecker...

When I have the spectra on scan, it receives audio instantly.

When I have the HT on scan, it takes about 1-2 seconds more to unmute on the same channel, and I miss some of the most important parts of traffic..

Is there a setting in the software that I can change for the HT that will have it unmute as quickly as the spectra? Or is this just how the radio is made?

it depends on the scanlist, the priority of the scan list entries, the location of each channel in the scanlist, the sensitivity of the RX deck...a bunch of things...even two identical radios will scan differently sometimes.

I've found that Spectra scan is phenomenal. You can have a full scan list of 16 channels and simply key up and kerchunk once, the radio will stop on that frequency instantly.

how about more info on how you have your scan list set up like how many channels are in it and how often does it check your priority channels and anything else you can tell us.

My Spectra & Jedis behave exactly as the original poster here. I assume that is normal. GARY N4KVE

what about having your battery saver "On" in the RSS on the HT1000, on my JT1000 it will cause that same prob. with the battery saver on, or your "unmute" settings in the RSS I think they are in "Ms" (milliseconds) there a setting in there I think to allow you to increase or decrease it
