Receive Audio Problems with HT-1250

Post by kc0cdg »

I just picked up a HT-1250 from someone and have been working with getting it programmed. It is having some audio problems on the receive end.

The audio coming through the speaker almost sounds like it is in a can (cutoff, sort of echoey). When I hook a speaker mic up to the radio, it sounds the same way, which tells me that it's something more than just a bad speaker.

TX audio seems to be fine (a little soft, but nothing a small mic gain adjustment couldn't fix).

My gut instinct is telling me that a good alignment would fix these problems, but I am wondering if anyone else has any suggestions.

Make sure in the advanced tab in the conventional personalities that pre-emphasis & de-emphasis are enabled.

Depending on what other types of radios you're talking to, you can try enabling "low-level expansion" to see if it makes a positive difference.
