Astro Spectra VRS to Syntor X9000

Post by rmease »

The P2017 is an Astro Spectra VRS-EP, UHF 403-470 MHz, 300 mW. The P2022 is the 2 watt UHF version. BTW, the exact frequency range split (403-470 MHz) is determined by the crystaled R-NET radio.

The R-NET chassis number determines the split:
HLE9316 - 403-416 MHz
HLE9317 - 416-430 MHz
HLE9019 - 450-470 MHz

Does anyone know if this VRS could be made to work with a Syntor X9000?

All of these (X9K, VRS and VRS-EP) use the Systems 9000 serial data bus. The Astro Spectra VRS-EP uses the same cable as the Spectra VRS so it should also be safe to also plug into an X9K VRS cable (I no longer have this manual so I can not verify that its safe). However, my information is that the VRS-EP is only for the Astro Spectra and does not work with the Spectra or X9K (not verified absolutely for sure).

On the plus side the VRS-EP is fancier with up to 8 PL tone steering instead of just the VRS 4 PL tone steering and the Astro survived rebanding. Your VRS-EP has allot more value than an X9K VRS has. Maybe you can work out a deal with someone.
