PTT spikes on MC2500

Post by eboe »

k, i have a cdm1550, digital interface (L3276A) and an MC2500 as a base station to access a repeater by RF only [no tie lines to the repeater]. this is all wired locally right here on a desk. when receiving a transmission, the PTT light on the digital interface blinks and you can hear the contacts inside closing like it's going to key up, but it doesn't key up fully. ..just a quick tap of the PTT and then it'll receive again. if i'm hearing it right, it seems like it only does it when receiving a strong transmission by someone with a powerful voice and the PTT seems to tap when they emphasize a word or syllable. this leads me to believe that it could be a potentiometer level adjustment that's required, but i've tried this with limited success. what's the best way to know that all the levels are right without weeks of trial and error? (which is what i've been doing so far)
