Sorry...another Desktrac question

Post by KuhnElectronics »

I have a customer who is using a desktrac as a base station at a firehouse.

They have it programmed to Call Alert when their tones are Rx'd...they asked me today if they could somehow use it as an alert monitor and give an external alert for a buzzer or bell, sorta like what I do with GM300's and CDMs...

I cant remember if the mobile (maxtrac maybe??) inside is a 5 pin or 16 pin expanded logic board and if this would even be possible

I looked at the accy connector pinouts on the back and dont see anything that would work.

Is this possible?

Its 4:00PM now...
I am going to be in the field the rest of the evening, without internet access, so could it be possible for someone to text my phone or direct connect me on NextHell if u have a reply??

304-634-7427 my cell
189*60*10040 DC number

Thanks,
Nick

You can get the "pin 4" equivalent lead inside in the harness that goes to the front panel of the desktrac housing. I can't remember which color though. If I can find it, I'll post it later.

Jim,

thanks for the reply...

hopefully you get back with me on the pin 4 equivelant....but if not im sure it will be easy enough to trace it out, just maybe a little time consuming.

i am at lunch now, and heading out to this FD in a minute for an install, so if sometime today you figure it out please
email the color to:

[email protected]

or

text/call 304-634-7427.

thanks again jim..

I can't find it.

Just use a DVOM and check each of the leads while generating tones. You'll find one that switches when the call alert activates.

They are on the left of the radio when on the bench with the front facing you and the top removed.

"on the pin 4 equivelant...."

The horn alert is at the ACCY 2 connector, pin 11. This pin pulls to 12V upon ALERT to drive an external relay.
