HT1250 (MDC & Quick Call II RX Mode)

Post by jmills »

Forgive me please as I am new to programming radios in general. I recently purchased a HT1250 and to get it programmed I read the settings off my chiefs HT1250 and changed my MDC Identifier and then wrote it back to my radio.

Here is my question, is it possible to set the portable to alert me when recieving the fire tone (Quick Call II) as well as still displaying the MDC Tags from other radios? Right now, both RX and TX modes are set to MDC.

It's possible, just not on the same personality.

To do what you want to do, you would have to make a duplicate personality and make the Rx System on one MDC, and the other QCII.

You can still have the Tx systems on both set for MDC but that'll only allow you to TX ONLY MDC.

If I do that then there would be a 50% chance that on a transmission I would not recieve the MDC correct? And also a 50% chance that the personality without the QCII mode would be the one that picks up when the tone is transmitted, causing the alert not to happen.

Yes, that's correct.

What I would do is, if you want to receive tones on your portable, set it on the channel with QCII. When you're on a call/fireground, just switch ch's to the one with MDC and you're all set to decode the ID's that are calling you.

For example, you could label the channels;

"Name of your FD - MDC" AND "Name of your FD - ALERT"

That's what I would do, hope it helps.

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

try not to use the radio in scan mode when you wnat the QCII to work, that 50% is going to go down alot even if it's a priority channel.
