HT-750 / GP-340 Power issue

Hi there,

I was just wondering if the HT-750 or GP-340 type radios have internal fuses like their bigger relatives the HT-1000's & MTX-8000's? I have one of these HT-750's that appear to be lifeless when powered on...it emits no sounds,beeps, or lights of anykind. I know there have been a few circulating posts online suggesting it could be a faulty power pot switch but I've check all this and that is not the issue.

If anyone knows if there is a fuse on these radios and where I would find it on the board it would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know about that particular radio, but on the GTX (and maybe the GP300), there is a fuse on the tiny circuit board that makes the connection to the battery. It might be surface-mount, glass, and about the size of a 1/4 watt resistor, maybe a bit shorter. It would be one of the first things in series with the positive battery circuit going to the power switch. Worth looking for. Most radios do have a fuse, although it might not be obvious when you first look for it.

If your unit is an HT750, remove the housing then remove the PC board from the chassis(4 T6 torxhead screws). You'll find the fuse(4 A SMT) on the battery side of the PC board just to the left of the battery connector looking at the board with on/off/vol and chan selector at the top.

Thanks for the info fellas...I will have a look at the board and see if I can find it...I'll let you guys know what happens.

A corrupted firmware,will show you sometimes the same results.
If the fuse is ok,try to flash the GP340 with the Lab Upgradetool.

what color is the rubber gasket around the battery terminals on the radio, if it's orange you might want to have it fixed with the contaminent kit. the orange original ones are known to fail. if it's a blue gasket then check fuses.
