MTX838 not unmuting

Post by mr.syntrx »

G'day

I've got a H01RDD9DB4AN MTX838 here, with a strange problem.

After turning the radio on or changing channel, I get the flashing red LED but no audio when someone else transmits, as you do when the PL is wrong, but the radio fails to unmute, even when the PL is correct on any channel with either PL or CSQ. The strange part of this is that if I tap the PTT, it then unmutes properly all day long, until I power cycle the radio, or change channel.

If I hold the monitor button, I can hear the signal, as expected, but after releasing the monitor button, I hear nothing. I can still call alert and page it with no trouble at all.

Any ideas?

Cheers

What radios do you own?: All of them

I've had similar issues with my HT1000.

I'm not familiar with the 838s , but I'd check the mute/unmute and/or settings. Maybe something to do with the radio needing an MDC packet [you mentioned call alert/page] to unmute.

Just a shot in the dark, but a place to start none the less.

That fixed it - the unmute parameter under Selective Call Decode was set to 'And', so it was looking for PL and MDC.

Thanks
