Guys heres the question We got Astro Spectras to work on our Smartnet 800 system installed in squads. Each comes with the standard emergency button which when activated only sends numeric ID. PSAP wants them to alias as the vehicle we drive. OK I was told that to get the Spectra emergency ID to alias, the programming has to be done through the dispatch consoles-system. Right wrong anything in between .......
MDC1200 only sends out a 4 digit hexidecmial code. 0-9 and A-F.
The consoles/CEB needs to be programmed to recoginze MDC number 1234 as Car 4.
(on edit its a trunked system, it still applies but with longer ID's available)
If you have the computer based Centracom consoles, its a breeze. If you have the older Centraccom II consoles, it needs to be programmed with a suitcase programmer or maybe RSS. Its a pain in the ass for the service guys. Typically the alias is limited to 8 characters on the screen.
Lowband radio. The original and non-complicated wide area interoperable communications system
Not sure of Consoles but will pass on to those in charge. We are dispatched by an agency we dont work for so that brings all kinds of "issues" And they have NO techs
I am assuiming that the dispatch consoles are Motorola Centracom Gold Elite. It sounds like the solution is going to be to send the radio IDs (e.g. "705340") and the corresponding car numbers (e.g. "Patrol Vehicle 332") to whomever is adminstering the console system and have them enter these into the Alias Database Manager program. Not a real big deal.
