System Saber III CON 7

Post by LAPD_Astro »

Hello,

I have 2 radios System Saber III VHF here. When I read them with the RSS it says there are too many faults in the codeplug.
When I create a fitting codeplug and want to program this into the radio the RSS says that it can´t program because the radio is CON 7.
But when I want to change the Model I can only go from CON 2 to CON 6.....

what can I do??

It appears your RSS is older than the version in the radio you are attempting to program, that's the reason you get the message.

You will have to create a new codeplug with your current ver. of RSS and see what happens.

You can also try to reprogram the CP you read back into the radio then once the first two dots appear, shut off the radio, you will then have corrupted the radio's CP enough to allow a fresh codeplug to be written with your version of RSS.

Of course, you will have to realign the radio, but that's a minor trouble.

Try the programming route first, then corrupt it...and write new data, that should get you past the difficulty.

If you want, I can get your radio programmed with any version, including CON-7, or you can borrow from a buddy if possible.

If you are using regular RSS on a Systems model, you will get nothing but errors, but I suspect you are using the proper version for your radio.

If you are using R04.00.02, you should not have any trouble programming that radio as this is the last version for the Systems Saber that was released.

The trouble with Systems models, is people try to program in a newer codeplug than the radio was desinged for, and if your radio is a later model, you may have an older version of RSS that does not allow programming the radio with the newer revision, namely CON-7.

Your selection may not have this version available to you, therefore, you will not be able to program the radio as a CON-7, but like most Sabers, you can corrupt the CP enough to probably get your older version of RSS to work, you'll have to try to find out.

I know this works on Systems models as well as regular models.
You may have to try more than once to 'properly' corrupt the CP data though.

Bingo... If you're using the previous version of SysSaber RSS, you won't be able to do most anything with your CON-7 radio (I have one myself)... It'll just show CON-??? when you read the radio.

Ernie idea to corrupt the CON-7 codeplug in order to feed the radio a CON-6 codeplug will likely work.

trying to force a con 6 codeplug into the con 7 radio will crash it . it will drop dead ..tried it 3 times with different radios .. the best i got was forcing a con 6 plug into a radio and it lost audio ....

The V4.0 RSS will take care of CON7/8 radios, while the Lab will only do up to CON6. I ran into that issue a while back with a couple of Government Split UHF radios that I was playing with.
No, I will not fix your computer. Call back during NORMAL business hours.
